Times Square Events Throughout the Year

times square events

Times Square events run all year: Midnight Moment supplies a nightly art slot, Taste of Times Square marks September, and Halloween and New Year’s Eve bring the late-night options. Choose by season and by how late you want to stay.

This guide covers the recurring programming that sits beyond New Year’s Eve. For the wider picture across the city, see our overview of annual events in new york city.

Order of the list and best fit

No Times Square event here outranks another, so the list follows the calendar. An item earns a place when it recurs and has a dated listing, either from the Times Square Alliance or from the venue or ticketing page that publishes the date. Nightly programming comes first because it works in any month you visit.

  • Best for any-night visits: Midnight Moment, because it is the only item here that happens every night rather than on a single date.
  • Best for food and live music: Taste of Times Square, run by the Times Square Alliance each September.
  • Best for adult late-night plans: the Halloween event at Palladium Times Square and the New Year’s Eve party listing, both for adults only.

Recurring Times Square events in calendar order

Midnight Moment: nightly, with a new artwork each month

Midnight Moment is a digital art presentation synchronized across the electronic billboards of Times Square. For the winter program, the Times Square Arts announcement puts it on over 92 electronic billboards nightly from 11:57pm to midnight. The summer 2023 announcement described the same late slot on over 90 electronic billboards, so the format has stayed consistent from one season to the next.

The program calls itself the world’s largest, longest-running public digital art exhibition. The artwork rotates monthly: June, July and August 2023 each had their own run, and winter 2025–26 was divided into December, January and February programs. August 2023 was also the first in a series of four artist projects presented with Meta through 2024.

Midnight Moment suits anyone who wants a Times Square event without committing to a particular date. The slot is short and late, so treat it as the closing note of an evening rather than the reason for a whole trip, and get into position before it begins. If you visit in a month with an artwork you do not care for, the next month’s work will be different.

February: Valentine’s Day

February’s Midnight Moment program, by artist Eeman Masood, runs February 1–28, 2026, according to the winter announcement. Because it runs nightly through the month, Valentine’s Day falls inside that run. That makes a late-night billboard viewing the one Valentine’s plan you can fix in advance, without depending on a separate ticketed event.

A heart-shaped gap in a hedge stands in for the Valentine’s Day theme; it is an illustrative photo, not a Times Square installation.

For dedicated Valentine’s Day programming such as installations or couples’ events, check the Times Square Alliance’s event pages close to the date. Book any dinner first and treat extra programming as a bonus, since a dated listing may not exist until shortly beforehand.

A pink mug and heart-shaped cookies illustrate the season’s sweet-treat theme; the photo is generic and not taken in Times Square.

Spring: Easter bonnet season

Easter bonnet outings are a spring plan worth confirming rather than assuming. No fixed Times Square date is attached to them here, so look for the Alliance’s announcement before building a trip around one. The spring months still carry the nightly Midnight Moment, which makes a sensible fallback if a bonnet event is not scheduled for the days you are in town.

A packed street at night, with large lit billboards above the crowd, one reading “real time”.

Taste of Times Square: September

Taste of Times Square combines restaurant tastings of signature dishes with live musical entertainment, and the Times Square Alliance event page records the 2026 edition as taking place on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The Alliance’s 2024 announcement placed the event on Monday, September 9, so the calendar date held while the weekday changed.

The 2026 stage schedule included a Broadway cast performance, which is the main draw for visitors who want a taste of Broadway without buying a theatre ticket. It suits groups that like to graze across several restaurants and watch live acts in the street. The limit is timing: it is a single-date event, so for the next edition wait for the Alliance’s announcement and confirm the weekday before booking travel.

Halloween at Palladium Times Square: October 31

The Palladium Times Square events page lists a Halloween event on October 31, 2026, running from 10pm to 6AM for ages 21+. It is a venue event rather than Alliance programming, and the overnight hours make it a plan for adults who want a long night out, not for families or anyone who needs an early finish.

New Year’s Eve and the ball: December 31

The New Year’s Eve ball is the Times Square date most visitors already know, and it is the reason the area is crowded at year’s end. A third-party Eventbrite listing shows a Times Square party pass on Thursday, December 31, starting at 8:00 PM, for ages 21+. Because that listing comes from a ticketing marketplace rather than the Alliance, ask the organiser what a pass includes, and whether it offers a view of the ball, before you pay.

Blue and white fireworks illustrate the year-end celebration; this is a generic image rather than a Times Square scene.

Winter trips around the date can be stretched with other cold-season plans; our guide to new york city events in winter covers what else is on across the city.

Midnight Moment dates and artists come from the winter 2025–26 program announcement, and the Taste details from the Times Square Alliance.

Planning around the dates

  • Check the weekday, not just the date. Taste of Times Square landed on the same calendar date in 2024 and 2026 but on different weekdays, so a remembered date is not enough for booking.
  • Weigh who publishes the listing. The Alliance describes its own programming, Palladium describes its own venue night, and a marketplace listing is a seller’s page. Give the first two the most weight and verify the third.
  • Keep Midnight Moment as the fallback. If a seasonal event is not scheduled for your dates, the nightly art slot runs every night of each listed program period.
  • Match the event to the group. The Halloween and New Year’s Eve listings are for adults, so mixed-age groups are better served by programming without an age restriction.
